Humor

Maybe its humor, maybe its irony.  Mom and I were looking at old slides from the 70s. Back then, it was the trend to have art over your couch. It was usually about four feet long, and was some kind of scene. Mom's was lots of oranges and browns, trees and leaves that were turning with the fall, along a path.

We noticed my aunt had a similar style landscape over her couch, only the scene was ocean waves rolling in over a rocky shore.

And I thought about the irony.  We lived in Calif, near the ocean, and lots of evergreen type trees. The leaves that did fall never turned color like those "back east".

My Aunt lived in Minnesota, no where near an ocean!

So was this a case of buying art representing a place you'd rather be?????

Totally made me laugh!!

Then again, now that I think about it, maybe it had nothing to do with the reality of the scene and more about the colors of the room. My Aunt was stylish, her couch was blue, maybe she bought the painting because those ocean colors blended into the color scheme?

But what was mom's excuse?  Browns and oranges over her light green couch?

More to chuckle about!
