Awesome!!!

A list of truly AWESOME things:

Spring brings green baby buds that turn to leaves which fly high in the sky all summer long.  When fall arrives, they change color, eventually snap off and tumble to the sidewalk.  So smile a big smile on your face and enjoy the crispy crunch that comes when you walk out of you way to smash a brittle leaf into smithereens ... AWESOME!

You're a human pillow.  Remember that tiny heart beating on your chest, that tiny little hand gripping your finger, soft breaths whispering in and out... When you were a baby you fell asleep on people all the time.  As a grown up you're helping the next generation of life on its way.  And just think, some day, the softly sleeping snuggler will be doing the exact same thing for someone else... AWESOME!

Give your tired aching soles a soothing break after a long day of painful slave labor....  walk home barefoot! ... AWESOME!

Ahhh vacation.  Saturday we got here.  Sunday we did nothing.  Then after that we did nothing.  The next day we did nothing.  And we're doing nothing now ..... AWESOME!

Lazing around in crumpled sheets, sun streaking through the blinds, you open your eyes and blink slowly.  Your lips curl into a smile.  You glance at the alarm clock, stare at the ceiling, flip your pillow.  That's when it hits you:  you can smell bacon, and it smells ... AWESOME!!

When the plane suddenly speeds up on the runway ... because here we go!!! .. AWESOME!!!

You grab your order from the takeout window, the scent of fresh french fries fill the car; you get home, open the sack and take out the box of fries, and find some salty onion rings hidden in your fries .... There be treasure in these fries... AWESOME!!!

The sound of steaks hitting a hot grill .... Tsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.... AWESOME!!!

Deja vu is that strange feeling of having already experienced a new situation at some time in the past.  Now you just need to harness your powers...  AWESOME!!!

Eating anything grown in your own garden, sweet ears of corn (even if they're small), green beans that snap, warm peas in a pod, or a juicy ripe tomato... AWESOME!!!

Deja vu is that strange feeling of having already experienced a new situation at some time in the past.  Now you just need to harness your powers...  AWESOME!!!

Old classic board games:  Mouse Trap, Connect Four, Battleship, Uno, Risk, Candyland, Clue, Monopoly, Password, Chutes and Ladders... AWESOME!!!

It sounds like the start of summer, it sounds like the cool and quiet finish to fall, its the sound of water lapping against a dock... AWESOME!!!

Seeing a really happy dog out for a walk:  I'M OUTSIDE I'M OUTSIDE I'M OUTSIDE I'M OUTSIDE ... AWESOME!!!

The sound of snow crunching under your boots... AWESOME!!!

You're sitting in a restaurant, waiting for your food order, and the waiter brings you a basket of bread... and its warm! ... AWESOME!!!

Your windshield wipers have no idea what's going on as you enjoy a blissful two seconds of silence as you pass under a bridge on the highway... AWESOME!!!

A hug from someone who loves you at the end of every day... AWESOME!!!

Sometimes life gets hard.
That's when you focus on all the magic moments, eye twinkling memories,
and small special touches that make every day sweet,
and make every day worth living.

Long Weeks

Every week has the same number of days,

the same number of hours

and the same number of  minutes .......

So why is it some weeks go slower than others???

This was my thought for the day as I sat there on my morning break, grumbling about how long the week has seemed.  And I found myself wondering why?  What's the difference between this week or last week, or any other week?  And I came up with a one word answer:  Attitude.

Attitude is everything!  If you're grumbling, if you're unhappy with what you're doing, time will seem to drag on and on.

How can we change that?  Other than improving our attitude there may be a few things that help.  When we're on vacation, time flies!  But that's because we're having fun.  At the same time, we're also making a mental picture/journal so we remember all those special moments.

Now I'm not saying that on the job we're going to remember all the little details... that's like being right back at work!   But maybe we can change our attitude to get through the work day, and then taking time to do something for ourselves, something that gives up pleasure.

It's the little moments that make a good day versus a bad day!

Stars

One of the benefits of starting my work day at 5am

happened this morning:

I was watching the sky and saw a shooting star!!

Otherwise, it was a rough Tuesday for me.  At work, I smashed my left index finger, there's a blood blister at the base of my nail.  Then, in the late night, Sadie needed to go outside, so I staggered out of bed and opened the back door, and it slung into my right foot, and either broke or badly bruised two toes.  Walking on it, or putting pressure on it, has been painful all day.  (But I'm not a wimp, I worked my 8+ hours, then hit the gym after work!)  Now that dinner is finished, I will put some ice on it, see if I can change them from purple to normal again. :)

Sunday

Sundays are always an odd day... technically its still the weekend, but on the other hand, Monday is right around the corner and there are so many things that need to get done for the coming week, like laundry! How I wish I had a laundry room that looks like this one - courtesy HGTV.

But I got my laundry done -- now I just need to get it all hung up and put away in its proper places.

Or!!!!   I can leave it folded in a pile, stacked up pants, shirt, pants, shirt, pants, shirt ... enough for the whole week, and never having to worry about what to choose, just pick off the top of the pile! Works just fine at times, considering my work wardrobe consists of jeans and navy blue shirt.  Every day.  Day in, Day out.  It does get old from time to time and I ... *ahem* ... sometimes I rebel -- and wear a colorful tank under my shirt!   *laughs*   It's getting to be too warm to wear two shirts any more though.

My son, who still has the teenage mentality of "knowing more than a parent" (hahaha), bought himself an electric eZip bike to get back and forth to work.  It's a pretty spiffy idea:  he doesn't pay gas, or insurance, and it only takes him 10 minutes longer by bike than it does by car.  Pretty good when you're close enough to work to make that happen!  However, a couple weeks back he decided he could make his bike """better""" - and took it apart.  He got it back together, but it didn't work.  *sigh*  Eventually he got it back to working order, only to have it break down again on Thursday.  What is it with men and their toys, always taking them apart to "fix" them.  If only they'd follow one of my golden rules:  If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! Maybe someday he will learn.  :/

Guess I'll finish out my chores, take my shower then head to the grocery store - fun times ahead!
