Fall is the best season, weather wise. The night's finally cool off, but the days are still warm enough to go without a jacket, to enjoy going barefoot for a little while longer.
Fall usually comes with a few extra warm days - when I was growing up we called it Indian Summer. Those few days where the heat builds and you wonder if it will ever be cool again.
Fall also meant school activities, clubs, high school football games and socializing with your friends.
As an adult, I still appreciate fall. Other seasons are more tolerable because I know that it will be fall once again. And even at my age, it can be a time of new beginnings, new adventures, new things that make us feel young again. As one of my favorite authors (Sarah Ban Breathnach) wrote, don't be afraid to "lead yourself into temptation with perfectly plausible passions." If there's something you've thought about doing, why not do it?
Life's only sin is a day without desire and a night without thanks.
I haven't blogged in a while, as I've been quite busy lately, trying to get in some reading, some writing and some day trips. While the reading is slow, the writing is a little better, and these last few weekends, I decided to do some local sight seeing. I pack a quick overnight bag (just in case I find myself further from home), I pack a cooler full of water, and a few good snacks, and my GyPSy, and off we go. I never know for sure what I'll find, but I'm never at a loss for taking some good pictures. (They're posted here )
So if you're dreading winter, wishing for spring, or find that fall is your favorite time of year, do something for you, make a new start: a hobby, a project, or just plain sight seeing .... it's a great time to do it!
