Frustrations

I sit here after supper, and I'm wiped out.  Not so much in a physical was as it is a mentally burned out kind of way.  Because I let frustrations get to me.  Because thing aren't always black and white. And yes, I'd like them to be more black and white than fifty shades of gray!

At my BigBox store, we try not to be wasteful; to be mindful of things that can be recycled, and then doing the right thing with them.  But sometimes, it's forgotten.  Or maybe it just seems easier to do it differently.  In cleaning out some of the old, worn out fixtures that seem to accumulate, someone decided to toss them into a bin and take them to the trash compactor to throw them away.  Ugh.  After fighting the urge, and then discussing it with one of the bosses, I built some rather large boxes, put them on a pallet and asked that things be tossed in them.  That way I could send them off in a truck to the recycle center.  I also mentioned what I did to the boss as the next level up.

However.  (You knew that was coming, didn't you?? haha)  My ..... err, idea was tossed out and they continued to do exactly what they were doing.   I was mad.  Disgusted.  Doesn't anyone care?  This shouldn't be going into the landfill.  Plus, we paid someone to toss it into the container, then someone else to take it out of the container and put it into the trash compactor.  We would be money ahead if they had just put it into boxes I suggested.   *** big sigh ***

That's just not how things are done any more.
What happened to "Do the right thing" ????
Have we gotten away from that,
and moved on to doing what is the quickest,
even if it's not right?

I know some of you would say "just let it go" ... and I will.
I feel better for having put it out there.  It just burns me
that no one things beyond the moment, no long term consequences.

I think I will be laughing all the way out the door the day they call to have that trash bin picked up.  It will be too heavy for the normal truck; they will have to bring in the Big Rig to haul that thing out of there, costing our store an extra fee for that, as well.
