Flowers

I am not a hot-house flower
who needs to be tended
several times a day.

I am more like a cactus
standing tall and proud
needing sun and water
to continue to grow.

Without water or sun
I can exist on my own.
for a time.

but signs of distress
begin to appear
after a time of neglect.

And that's how it is
with your love.
