Finally Friday!

Well here we are, finally Friday!  I don't know about the rest of you, but its been a long week, even though it moved so fast!  I've been up to my ears in alligators at work, and trying to stay on top of things.  As an added bonus, they're pushing me to step up to the plate and be more supervisory, etc.  Not my cuppa, but I will do what I gotta do to make things right.

This week has been full of issues.  Our overnight stocking crew has switched up its game plan and now has someone who's sole job it is to put cardboard into the baler.  Well.  As I mentioned to management, its becoming an issue.  I worked over an hour every day to help get rid of the shopping buggys full of cardboard, because having it just sit there in my backroom, taking up real estate doesn't work for me!

Any one else in retail knows that accidents can make or break a bottom line.  If there's a spill, clean it up!  Don't walk away, or ignore it!  This morning, I walked in to two jugs of cranberry juice spilled in one of the main aisles in the back room.  As I was walking toward it, wondering who-the-fk would just ignore is when the support manager tiptoed around it as well.  WTF???   No no, policy isn't policy just for the sales floor.  My first hour today was spent mopping up someone else's mess.  Not that I mind mopping.  Or sweeping or the other things that have to be done, but damn if I enjoy it when someone else purposefully ignores the spill!!   That's just not right.  Another convo to have with my Asset Protection team.  I'm quite certain she's going to "volunteer" me as lead for her safety team, since no one is stepping up to the plate.

I have to chuckle though, because as I'm mopping up this sticky godawful mess, one of the newer 'kids' on overnights wanted to cruise on through, I said "go around" and continued to mop.  He started to cruise on through and I barked at him "I SAID go around!"   lol  they're going to feel intimidated by me pretty soon.  lol    Nothing like having to be a hardass, but damn, someone has to step up!

Its been nothing but rush, rush, rush all week, and I ended up with some major overtime - which is a no-no in retail  of course.  So, by 9am I was out of time.  By 10:30 I actually got out of there, and hit the floor for some sales.  They had some little tank tops for $3 - they make great undershirts for the cold weather season here, because I just can't work in a coat.   Also picked up some meats for the weekend, some celery, fresh fruit, and some chicken tenders from the deli for lunch.

When I get home, my son announces that his dad is coming to see him tomorrow, so my afternoon plans switched to some major house cleaning.  Can't have the ex seeing a messy house!   Getting it ultra cleaned was the plan for the weekend, since I won't be able to do any of it next weekend.  Having the ex as extra motivation means I got tons done! And I still have the weekend left.  Sat morning will be the back yard (while its still cool) then off to the mall for a hair cut and clothes shopping :)   yay!  Should be fun!
