Recap, in a nutshell

You can't make this stuff up.....
Months ago, I bought tickets to head home.

Ready to fly out on a Weds night, scheduled departure 8:41.
Flight status:  delayed 1 hour.  Departure time 9:30
Flight status: delayed 1 hour.  Departure time 10:30
Flight status:  delayed 1 hour.  Departure time midnight.
Flight status:  Cancelled.  Rescheduled for 8:41am.

Go back to shuttle bus to long term parking, toss suitcases into car and drop my aunt at her house, continue to my house.  Boy, was I tired as it was after 11pm.  Drop into bed, and pray for sleep .... before I know it, my alarm is ringing and its time to get up and begin my day.  I walked my dog, Sadie, like I do every morning and left to pick up my aunt and return to the airport.

Stand in a long line for 45 minutes because we need new boarding passes.  You can't do them over the internet because our flight doesn't really exist.  We get to the ticket counter, and the lady punches in our ticket.... Oh dear.  We haven't been "switched over" to the new flight.  Please wait over there.   So we did.  Because we think they know what they're doing.

We waited.  and watched.  and waited and watched some more, another 50 or so people through the long line, and still no answer as to our tickets.  We watched the woman who had handled our request at the ticket counter walk away.  Then move to a different ticket counter.  By this time, we figure she's forgotten all about us!!

The last of the line is nearly done now.  And still no boarding passes.  I checked my online trip information, and whoa.  They have us booked on a flight from Oakland to Phx at 11:15 am.  Hmmm.  Be pretty hard for us to make THAT flight, considering we're still in PHX.  We're laughing by now, because the other options are to get mad, or to cry.   And we're above that!   So we grab our stuff and decide to get back into line.   As we get to the counter, and hand over our ID's, the same ticket woman dashes over and says "Oh here are your boarding passes Marge and Linda."   *whew*

What a relief we're at least on the flight.  Yippee :)  As we're waiting to board, we learn that the plane we were to be on was still in Oakland, needing repairs.  They flew a plane and a crew from Vegas to take us to Oakland.

We arrived in Oakland at 11:30, just 13 hours later than originally planned.  It ended with a happy ending, but I'm sure glad to have this part of the journey behind me!
