Girls' Rock!

Saturday was a good day!  I got up early and headed to Tucson for some time with my granddaughter.   It was her birthday last month -- she turned 12!!! -- and at her age, little girl parties with the entire family there just isn't the same.  So I thought a day out, just the two of us would be fun -- and it was!!

I watched her soccer game first.  Her team is the Minions (as in Despicable Me!) and even though they lost, it was exciting to watch!!  After that, we got her cleaned up and changed, and headed to the mall.  Yes, the mall!!   If you've followed this for any length of time, you know that I am not a fan of shopping or malls at all!  But I only have the one granddaughter so I do what I gotta do.

We checked theater times and found Alexander starting in just 10 minutes.... perfect!  We lined up at the snack bar for drinks and some pretzel bites with nacho cheese dip and headed to our seats.  The movie wasn't crowded at all.  If any of you know the book, Alexander and the Horrible No Good Very Bad Day ... well, the title is explanatory.  Poor Alexander has a string of horrible days, and makes a birthday wish that his family would know what its like to have one of those kind of days -- and boy do they!  Hilarity ensues as every imaginable thing goes wrong for his mom, dad, brothers and sister.  It was a very enjoyable movie for the whole family. :)

After, we headed for the shops:  Claires, Justice, a couple of shoe stores.  We bought earrings, bracelets, shoes, tried on crazy sunglasses, and had a bunch of laughs.   Lunch was a rice bowl with orange chicken at Panda Express.  After all that, we were tuckered out and headed home.

The other bright point of the day was meeting my daughter's boyfriend, Alonzo.  I've met a few in the past and I was beginning to wonder if I had a problem thinking no one was good enough for my only daughter, because I haven't liked any of them.  Until now.  :)   I didn't have any of those crazy bad vibes I had about the others.  He was nice, sweet, easy to talk to, and they seem to make each other happy.  And that is a good thing for a long term relationship.  Looking forward to getting to know him even more.  Kudos, Miss T!

And while the drive there and back is a long one, I was able to tune in to the first playoffs game of the Giants vs Cardinals and yippee, they got three runs early in the game, and were able to hold on to that and win the game!!  Game 2 tonight.... let's go, boys!!
