Plain Truth

Helluva day today.  I didn't feel like doing anything.

When I wake up that way, I usually find a book to read, and I got involved in a good one by Jodi Picoult, called Plain Truth.  It's about an Amish girl who finds herself unmarried and pregnant, has the baby in the barn, and it dies.  She's accused of murder, and a lawyer from outside the Amish community chooses to represent her.  Bail is denied at first, but since she doesn't prove to be a flight risk, the judge orders the lawyer to live with the girl until her trial comes up.    The lawyer becomes friends with the girl, and learns about herself as she lives among the Amish.....

Really good story!  Compelling, and full of rich details.

After that, I bought some mums yesterday and got those planted, which will make the yard brighter for the fall season.  I've got some other yard work I need to do as well, and some transplanting of some cactus because they're outgrowing their pots.  Now's the time to get that done, otherwise, have to wait until February!!
