Today's Walk

I've been sort of forcing myself to get out and walk at the local parks on Saturday, my day off.  Last weekend it was Riparian, got some nice shots of birds.  The pelicans were there this time!  It isn't every year that I catch them while they're stopping over.  Not sure where they're from, or where they're going, but I like it when they're at the park when I'm there!

Today, it was Freestone Park and boy was it busy!!!!!   There is loads of parking there, and most of it was full!  Usually it's much quieter, but I think folks are tired of keeping kids cooped up.  :)  I caught a few photos:  ducks, egrets, and a green heron were hanging around today!

Ka-Boom She Went!

So here's my latest award --
1100 Lifetime Miles -
(I started tracking in 2013)

Took Sadie for a long walk around Freestone Park this evening.  It's 78 and breezy, perfect for walking!   I could have walked another couple of miles, but Sadie gets to panting heavy after about a mile.  That's ok, it gives me time to take pix!

Today is Friday, and I started it off with a real bang.  I was getting dressed, putting on my pants - which I do one leg at a time like everyone else.  Only I have it in my head that my balance is as good as it was when I was in my 20s.....  Yep, you guessed, it's not what it used to be!  My right foot goes in just fine (as I am "left footed" )  and my left foot got all tangled up in the pants -- kaboom, down I went to the floor - hard - one my left knee and tried to catch myself with my right hand.  My foot stayed tangled, so I strained some muscles in my foot, my toes were sore all day.  My left knee has a knot on it, and my right shoulder is aching like crazy.   My oddest thought?  Was "Oh no, what if I can't get up???  Will I have to wake my son and say 'come help me, I can't get up' ???   Yikes, I didn't want to be doing that. lol   I scootched over to the dresser where I'd have something to anchor myself too, and managed to stand, to get into my pants, put on my shoes and hobble around the block with the dog.

As I hobbled my way through the day, I decided that my response to anyone asking why I'm hobbling would be "I must have slept funny."  lol  No way would I admit that I couldn't even put my own pants on!!!  hahahahhahah

Ahhh, what a way to start a Friday!
*laughs*

Concert!

We live in a great community here in the Valley of the Sun; several times throughout the year, there's a free Concert in the Park at Freestone Park.  Tonight's band:  Rondavous -- a high-energy country band that is fronted by a talented, energetic, female singer along with strong male vocals.  ( link to their website here)  They played lots of country fav's, even did some Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline!

There were a lot of people in the audience.  The kids danced up a storm, and even some of the adults.  It was a great evening, warm with a slight breeze.  After the sun set, there's something magical about a concert ... lights ... sharing music under the stars.

Faerie Tales

Do you believe in faeries?  If you do, you're not alone.  The belief in fairies seems to reach back into ancient times, being traceable both in written and oral tradition.  There's just something magical about fairies, and believing in them.  Sometimes the world can be a harsh, cruel place, and we all need time and space to escape it and believe in the good things again.

On the spur of the moment, I took a late evening walk in the park.  Being Easter weekend, it was quite busy.  I stopped to watch a crowd of wedding goers as they wished the couple well.  And when I looked up toward the sun, on top of the hill surrounding the event .... there she was.  Lucky I had my camera with me (never leave home without it!)

If you didn't believe in faeries before.... do you now? ;)
