I like to write. I thought about it this morning, and tried to figure out why do I do this, what drives me to write? One of the thoughts I had was that I'm not much of a people person. When I am around people, I'm usually more about asking them questions than I am about sharing my own issues. Perhaps that's why I like to blog. I can take my time, share what I'm thinking and any one's opinion be damned! hehehe
Today was another stay-cation day. I walked Sadie the Pug, and we had breakfast on the patio. After a little bit of light reading, I took my book, a Powerade, and a towel and headed to the pool. It was a little overcast, but swimming around felt so good! A salad for lunch, a little nap in the afternoon, then some of those pesky chores - hanging up two new wind chimes, hanging a new mirror in the hall, changing the air filter on my heat/cool system. A nice relaxing day :)
Needed that after last night. Sadie was awake at 2am, and couldn't go back to sleep until 4am - I had to put Father Goose on the laptop, and have her curled up against me. Pugs are temperamental - its like having kids all over again! hah
That's the highs and lows of it all. Happy Weekend!

Power Play
Crazy dreams happen every now and then. The one I had a couple nights ago left me with an important message: We don't appreciate the anticipation any more.
Now, what does that mean? To me, in simple terms, its like having a party. Sometimes the biggest joys come from the planning and preparing, rather than the actual party!
Yesterday, I read the new book by Danielle Steel, "Power Play". what i found fascinating was her take on the two main characters and their differences. Both are powerful CEOs in major corporations. Both do their job very well, are very successful. The male is married, with a corporate wife as a partner. The female is divorced, raised her kids as a single mom. He was seduced with all the power into believing he was powerful, and risked everything with affairs and having a second family in another part of the state. She was so focused on being a good CEO and single mom, that she didn't have time for a relationship for herself.
What it comes down to is men in power turn it sexual, there seems to be a link between power and sex for males. While women do the opposite, wanting to avoid the sexual complications that come with being so powerful.
As with all of her stories, there was a happy ending for the female character, finding love in an unexpected relationship. The male? When the shit hit the fan, his corporate board demanded he clean up his act; he asked his wife for a divorce, went to the mistress to start a new life, who turned him down as well. In the end, he changed jobs, moved to another city, and started the cycle all over again.
Must have been a good book, I read it in a single day. :)
