Cracker Jack'd

Just what is "cracker jack"?  In the US, its a snack food - wiki says its molasses flavored candy coated popcorn and peanuts.  All I know is that as a kid growing up, it was delicious!  Plus, there was a prize in every box!

This delicious invention was first sold at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago.  and when one customer tasted these little gems, he exclaimed "That's crackerjack!" (meaning "of excellent quality")  Prizes were included in every box starting in 1912.  Sailor Jack and his dog Bingo have been on the package since 1918.  Cracker Jack's 100th anniversary was celebrated in 1993 at Wrigley Field, with every fan receiving cracker jacks.  Sailor Jack threw out the first ceremonial pitch. :)

Today, while shopping in the store, I found a new product called "Cracker Jack'd" -- a blend of cracker jacks covered in chocolate and peanut butter.  And oh boy, they're even better than the original cracker jacks!  no prize inside, but that's OK-- the burst of flavors is good without the prize :)  If you liked Cracker Jacks as a kid, you'll love the new grown up version!!
