Someday

I have always hated the word "someday"
I've realized today that I hated that word
when it was applied in terms to myself,
something that will happen to me, or with me.
Because I have always been disappointed
in the past when someone promised "someday".

But in a different light, when someone says
they're going to do something "someday" --
well, I hope it comes true for them, but I doubt it will.

There was a time when I made assumptions.  No more.
There was a time when I had hopes.  No more.

Does this mean I'm growing up?
that I've given up?

I don't think so.
Maybe I'm more focused on reality,
and not the fantasies of how things could be.

someday is a code word for never.

Someday

"And I said someday
I`ll get my life straight
And she said it`s too late
What`s done is done
And I told her someday
She said I can`t wait
`Cause sometimes someday just never comes"

Heard this on the way home today ...
and had to share, its so simple.

On another note, Nickelback does a song called "Someday", as well as Mariah Carey, Dave Loggins, Concrete Blonde, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Trace Adkins, and The Oak Ridge Boys.  The best "Someday" song is Vince Gill's "Someday Love will Come".  So many people sing about 'someday' .....
we're all hopeful for that 'someday'....

It was a typical Friday - gosh, work for me is usually "typical" -- same ol' thing day in and day out I suppose.  Work gets done, extra time is spent in the electronics dept helping out with scanning and ordering and straightening out as much as I can.  Hopefully, management appreciates my efforts.  Time will tell.

Dashed into the gym and did a quick circuit of the machines - all 15 reps, and all increased weight over the last time I used them.  Also completed a mile on the elliptical.   Couldn't stay very focused today, I was cold and hungry all day.  *sigh*   On the drive home, I got a 'wild hair' and dropped into my local Home Depot store and picked up some retaining wall bricks.  Gotta start getting the side yard fixed up so I can haul rock into the back yard before the summer monsoon season starts.  All these little things to do, and some days I am too tired after work to do all the little daily chores plus the bigger outdoor chores as well.

The problem is sometimes we tend to put off things we should be doing for "someday".  That's no good! Quit waiting for 'someday' and do something now - even if its one little thing.  Little things add up into bigger things over time.  I plan on taking my own advice, and get out into the yard every day, even if its only for a little thing or two.  :)

Crush it!

How many of us tell ourselves "Someday I'll ..... (fill in your own blank)."
I've ranted about this before.
I hate the word someday.
Why not now????

Here are a few quotes I found about crushing your "someday" thinking:

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.”
– Steve Jobs

“Make today worth remembering.” – Zig Ziglar

”Twenty years from now
you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn’t do
than by the ones you did do.”
– Mark Twain

“There are only 7 days in the week; “someday” is not one of them.” ~Rita Chand

“Either you run the day
or the day runs you..” – Jim Rohn

 ”We all die.
The goal isn’t to live forever;
the goal is to create something that does.”
– Chuck Palahnik

The problem with someday thinking

is a year from now

you’ll wish you’d started today.

don't wait for someday.....
or regrets.
Time is something that you'll never get back.
When this moment is gone, it is gone forever.
