It's been a fine how-do-you-do of a week! We had inventory at my BigBox Store, and it wasn't good. It keeps me wondering about the millennial workforce. Why are they unable to stay on task? There is a basic way of working, all based on apps, which is what they're familiar with. All the tasks are laid out on a daily basis, they're pretty much directed via the apps on what needs to be done and when. And they still can't get it done the right way... which in my world means completed. They seem to start the routine fine, but never reach the end tasks; they go home and start the beginning tasks the next day. Over time, these things don't ever get done. These tasks will now be relegated to my department. And I'm not happy.
In other parts of life .... my son sent me a text today and said he needs to move back home, and what am I doing this weekend? Because of so many changes at work, I'm working the weekend. So I did what my sis always does: hires someone. I found this company called GoShare; it's like Uber only it's with pickup trucks. The driver, "Ardy", will pick him and his stuff up at 2pm and bring him home. After three+ years of living alone, this will be quite the adjustment!!!
As for the reasons behind the move, I don't know, and I didn't ask. He keeps things to himself, but will open up when he's ready. Sadie is going to be very happy, she'll be able to interact with more than just me!

You're the Pilot
Time slips by in the blink of an eye when things are really busy. We're in the throws, coming down to the wire, prepping my BigBox Store for inventory. There are a lot of changes, because of the whole digital thing, and we're using a lot of Apps lately, rather than a hardwired computer system. Change can be exciting, but it can also be stressful when it's the first time using it. Some say "Do it this way..." and others say "Do it that way ... " and you're caught in the middle, hoping the way you choose is the correct way. Funny how a management team never seems to be on the same page, no matter the work place! Many other changes taking place, I'm losing my direct manager, and the girl I've trained up. I'm happy for both of them, they are making choices that will take them further in their careers. But I'm sad for me. Along with people changes, there are other changes in the future, and my position isn't as secure as I assumed it would be. Of course, there is always change in the retail sector. Most of them I can grumble about but still get on board and do what needs doing, but this one will create the most changes ever in the 10 years I've had my position. When that finally hits, I will be doing a major countdown to the day I can finally retire!
2,838 days left!!
These days, when I think about work and feel somewhat defeated, I conjure up one of my favorite Frank Reagan quotes:
Do good work.
Come back in one piece.
Thank you for your service.
My whole lifestyle changes went out the window with the stress of the last two weeks. Needless to day, I'm right back where I started from. I'm hoping, however, that getting back to my normal routine will cause the stress induced water retention to abate and I can keep on going .... it's not easy with the hot weather. Today I walked for 25 minutes, Sadie in the stroller, because it was 90 degrees. I couldn't finish out the last 20 minutes of the walk, had to cut it short, because I was a little overheated and didn't want to find myself passed out on the sidewalk! Us ol' ladies gotta watch for that!
