Busy Monday

Image result for busy dayWhat a busy Monday!

Four hours into my shift at my BigBox store, it's time for lunch.  But I don't stop to eat, I head to the gym and hit the elliptical trainer for 33 minutes.   Back to work and boogie through the rest of my day to get it over with quick.  When my shift is up, it's back to the gym for another 33 minutes on the elliptical trainer.

Once home, it's time to cook up meals for the week.  I grilled 4 burgers, boiled a dozen eggs, and then fixed up my salad with chicken breast on it.  Kind of boring, but ... it gets the job done.

I'm anticipating a good week, even busy ones can be good!  I'm back and forth on the progress of weight loss, but I'm not slacking in my calorie counting or in my exercise routine.

Now I'm ready to watch some Longmire, then Antiques Roadshow!

My thought for the day:

Feel the Burn

A lousy night's sleep ... and it's Monday as well!
It was like having a double whammy against me before I even got out of bed!
But.
I still consider today a success!

As usual, Monday mornings at work are hectic.  The bosses were "in a mood" for sure.  And once they get that way, there's no changing them.  (lol)   So we all endure.  One of my coping mechanisms is with food.  I know, I know, that's a bad thing.  I can make all kinds of excuses.  I also know I should have had more water, and less of the food thing.   I've found that it's peaceful to have lunch at McDonald's ... no co-workers in the lunchroom trying to "talk shop".  They've also installed a TV in there, and it's always blaring.  No way to get away from it all.  So McDonald's it is! But even a simple cheeseburger/fries meal is bad for me.  Time to break that habit.  What I should really do is walk next door to the gym and do some walking on the treadmill.  Maybe.

Not sure what's up with the no sleep last night.  But for that reason, I forced myself to go to the gym after work.  I needed to tire out my body so it will sleep tonight!

And I accomplished that :)   1 mile = 14:30  Then some resistance weight training.  I increased the weights on most of the machines; I'll be feeling the burn tomorrow !

And a new personal best:   14,036 steps today !!
And that feels great --- just GO!

I. Am.

I am.

A very important sentence, but one we tend to overlook in our day to day lives.  How would you complete that sentence?
I am beautiful. Well, ok, but only if inside beauty counts!
I am detail oriented.
I am a hard worker.
I am worth it.
I am awesome!
All good sentences.
But yet, just leaving it at "I am" is enough as well.

Neil Diamond's song "I Am" inspires me sometimes, makes me think about myself in a different way.  It's like acknowledging that yes, I am here, I am worthy!  Here are some lyrics... sing along if you want!

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried
But it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared
For the sound of being alone

"I am"... I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am"... I cried
"I am"... said I
And I am lost and I can't
Even say why
"I am"... I said
"I am"... I cried
"I am"... I said

I. Am.
Are You?

With that being said, today is Monday.  It was weigh in day.  And I will confess that I sorta worried about it, because I skipped out on the gym on Thursday and Friday, and weekends of course have too much eating time in them.  But I was happy that there wasn't a gain today!  I hopped on my elliptical and gave it as good as was in me for 30 minutes, and hit 2 miles at 30:02.  Not bad for a tired Monday!  Add to it there were clouds, it was cool, and boy all I wanted to do was curl up into bed and do nothing!  Today's steps were 9944, just a tad off my goal, but when the data uploaded, I reached another milestone:  1,000 miles since I started keeping track in 2012.  not bad at all :)

Mondays

Sleep escapes me for the moment in the wee morning hours
typical Monday with too much to do and not enough time

An hour goes by and I still can't get back to sleep.
is there something on my mind that keeps me from sleeping?

Nothing on TV to help relax, so I jumped on the computer,
thinking that a little bit of writing might help.

I should be tired; my muscles were used and abused at the gym.
My trainer is the best:  he worked me very hard, but after
he stretched out my muscles.
I lay on the floor, and he raises my leg, keeping it straight
and gently pushes to stretch the hamstring.  When I reach
the point where its enough, I say so.  He holds that position
until I relax into the stretch, and then stretches just a bit more.
Ahhhhhhhhh.  It feels so good when he releases it.
Then he holds my shoulder to the floor with one hand,
while pushing my knee across my body to touch the floor
on the opposite side.   Snap.  Crackle. Pop ... ahhhhhhhhh
yes, my creaky old body makes a few noise, but boy

does this feel good.

My body feels weightless after his ministrations
and there's a feeling there's nothing I can't do!

I feel as if I could run a marathon!

hehehe... but I didn't.

Just Another Monday

Monday morning
tears fall
time to focus
work to do
wandering aimlessly
go away, tears
re-focus on
tasks at hand
mind wanders
heart hurts
go away, tears
time to focus
work to do
tears fall
will this day
ever end?
