Small Steps Add Up

Decisions are the enemy.  I was reading - no surprise there - and saw that phrase, and yep, they sure are!  I had to scroll back and find the reason behind it.

Turns out it was a page to help people with ADHD to do chores that removed the decision making process.  The first example was cleaning the bedroom.  No decision making, just pick up the clothing and put it in the hamper.

The next was a walk through the living spaces and put all the dishes in the kitchen. Again, no decision making, just a simple chore.

Yes, there will be laundry to do, dishes to wash, but that's a different set of decisions.

And even if we're not ADHD, sometimes taking away the easier decision making leaves room for the more complicated decisions.  And its the same for the big tasks too. Breaking them down into manageable portions and complete the little steps.

Even little steps add up to big steps.

I'm doing the same (yet again) walking on my treadmill. Each day I add a minute.  Today's goal is 17 minutes. Doesn't sound like a lot, but each day adds up.  By the end of September I should be back up to 30 minutes!

It's a little disheartening to know I can't share these little wins with mom.  When I was working, I counted steps and if I got over 10k I shared, and if I didn't hit 10k, I told her I was going to hit the treadmill.  And her response would always be "you did enough".  Today I told her dinner was broccoli, and again negativity and "you should eat more".  *smh*

Small steps when combined together can make for big accomplishments.
