Got Rhythm?

Rhythm:  A regular pattern of reoccurrence.  The ebb and flow of tides.  The four seasons.  The moon's phases. The sun rises and sets.  There are a million different rhythms in life; we create our own in the little things we do on a daily basis.  But we're so busy doing that other things get left behind.

So often, women fall into a funk (especially after the holiday rush).  We call it stress.  We call it hormones.  We call it lack of seasonal light or lack of sleep.  We call it everything but what it is:  Not taking care of ourselves.  Lurching from one task to another like zombies, cramming yesterday's exhaustion into tomorrow's obligations, is not ordinary life, it's lunacy.  We've all heard people say to live each day as if it were your last on earth, but the point is to enjoy your last day here, not try to get "caught up" before you check out.

A woman's seventh sense is wonder.  The wonder of it all.  Life.  Why we're here.  Not the wonder of how we've lasted this long.  Introducing a sense of rhythm into your daily routine -- a regular pattern of sleep, work, exercise, rest and play -- is the first step to restoring your wonder years.

Make some time in every day for yourself.  Get enough sleep, learn to say no from time to time, listen to some favorite music, wear your pretty clothes, buy yourself some flowers, take a walk, take a bath and soak away your cares, take a shower and use the good shower gel!  Just a few ideas that don't take a lot of time - and still sends your self a message that you're important too!

"Happiness is not a matter of intensity
but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony."
~Thomas Merton
