Take a Hike!

Today, when I saw the Superstition Mountains shrouded in clouds, I just had to go see for myself, and check out some photo ops.  There's nothing quite like hiking up the hills to the base of the mountain.  Its just you and the elements.  About halfway into my hike, I stopped and just stood there - in awe of the absolute absence of car noises, people noises, busy living noises.  How often in our busy lives do we actually have moments where there are no interfering noises from humans and machines?

Man's heart away from nature becomes hard.  ~Standing Bear

The wind was brisk, about 18mph.  Next to a saguaro cactus, I looked up, listening as the wind whistled against and through its arms.  The occasional cry of a bird came to me, carried on the wind.  Turning 360 degrees, there wasn't a car or building in sight.   Uplifting and renewing one's spirit -- and suited me today.

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.  Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.  The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
~John Muir
