Luck Needed!

It's 4am and I am awake, up and dressed for work.  Just thought I'd kill a little time here before heading out the door.  My BigBox Store is big on its procedures and has regular audits to make sure we're all on the same page, doing what's decreed in its guidelines.  Today is my audit for Hazardous Materials Compliance.  What does that mean?  Well, there are certain things that cannot be shipped to another location if its leaking, and things like aerosol cans that are hazardous to ship.  There are a million little rules to follow in order to ship things safely.  Things that can't be shipped are stored in specific ways until someone comes to dispose of it properly.  For example, pouring out lighter fluid would make its way to some water supply if it was just dumped out.  So we store it in a gas can type container until its picked up by a company who then takes care of it, whether its used for some kind of fuel to heat a building ... well you get the idea.

And its my job to make certain that the hazardous items are processed according to guidelines, every i dotted and every t crossed.  And I don't want to fail the audit.

It's a great source of frustration for me, as auditors tend to have different priorities than someone who has more than just that aspect as part of the job.  So, I'm heading in to work an hour early to get a 'jump' on things, as Tuesday mornings are typically very busy for me.   Guess I'd better head out the door--- wish me luck!
