Yesterday, I got a phone call from an old friend. We met in 6th grade, and have been friends ever since. Thats more than 50 years ago now! As with all friendships, its on and off because we don't live near each other any longer.
Between the two of us, we have struggled through many of life's problems. But we stick through it.
She went through a long stint (months and months) in the hospital, and still has some residual issues. But that doesn't make our friendship any less special.
In friendships that are long standing, there is a shared history that makes when the phone rings, its like picking up where you left off, even though a long time has passed by.
Treasure those friendships!
