Gym Rat, reinstated!

I started back at the gym this week with a self-commitment to go every day again, and get back on the healthy eating track.  2 days of good things so far.  I am not pushing at the gym, just doing what needs to be done.  About a month ago, I tried to get back into the gym thing, and tackled it right off with where I'd left off - and then pushed it.  And ended up pulling something in my hip/leg joint and could barely walk in the mornings, and nothing strenuous for sure.  It took a long time to heal that - plenty of time on the heating pad, trying to relax that muscle.  It seems it was in real deep, couldn't massage it away.  A few hours in a hot tub would have been nice, but that wasn't in the cards for me.   But I survived!!

Back on the elliptical, I'm doing my two miles, then moving through some weights -- but this time I'm also concentrating on some floor work, some major stretching.  Its like I have the major muscles working well, but now I'm feeling like they need to be more fluid, like rubber bands that stretch and rebound back.  (When you age, the rebounding part doesn't 'spring' back any longer -- and thats shocking to have to admit!) 

Plenty of protein and some good carbs in the diet, I've also added some Activia - the peach and cereal flavor - because I don't get much calcium from 'real foods' so I thought I'd try this. Not worth having strong muscles if the bones weaken and and can't support the muscles! 

Hope you have some physical highlights planned into your week as well!!  One I can't get away from:  walking the puppy - Sadie is hopping and yelping to beat the band as soon as I put on my shoes in the morning.  Nothing like a brisk walk in cool temps in the pre-dawn hours!  :)
