Just Bein' Me

I am an old soul. I am also an empath, and highly intuitive.  Crowds and noise are my downfall, they drain a lot of my energy.  I consider myself different from others, but rarely discuss it or explain it to others.

But that never stopped me from exploring it. It also helped learning that there *are* others like me. Which led me to feel less guilty about the time I need to spend alone in order to maintain my own peace.

There are different aspects of being an old soul and empath in the greater scheme of things. We "often operate in the background, subtly shifting the atmosphere of a room, a family dynamic, or a workplace simply by introducing a peaceful, non-judgmental presence."

"From a spiritual standpoint, the divine purpose of old souls and empaths is to serve as anchors of healing, quiet wisdom, and deep compassion in a chaotic world."

That's a heavy statement if you're having to bear these things, to carry them out.  Learning these things makes it both easier and harder at the same time. Being given these gifts has made life uncomfortable. I was the kid on the outside when it came to my mom. Did she pick up on the fact that I was different? And did that difference disturb her own soul?  Trying to figure out and get to the bottom of these kinds of things may get me a few answers, but doesn't resolve anything.  That's something meant for me alone, it seems.

As I emerge from this time, unburying myself from emotions that have no resolution, I feel as if I can be me again.  I've mentioned my decorating and such. Yesterday, I reassembled my display case and unpacked a portion of my depression glass.  I finally decided that it isn't important if I use them or not. I like them, they give me joy and that's enough.

I can just be me.
