Stress Reduction

Part of my stress reduction plan is to exercise (a given) and to find a show I can look forward to every day.   So I started The West Wing.

Goodness! The stars in the show!! Rob Lowe, Martin Sheen and I like the gritty characters John Spencer always plays. But other characters are played by actors who are familiar, as well.  (I won't name them all!)

It turns out this show was written by Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote The American President movie, one of my all time favorite movies!!

Interesting juxtaposition in The West Wing is how we view politicians to be all dressed nice, formal speaking when behind the scenes they're just regular people too.  It was the same in The American President. Who could imagine a President dating? And yet he did.

This series ran 1999-2006. I didn't watch it then, I was busy being a stay at home mom and caring for six kids!  Or maybe it ran opposite ER? I don't remember why I didn't watch it. Small town Ohio wasn't very "big time" in politics.  Although our small town was visited: "President George W. Bush visited Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio, on January 8, 2002, to sign the landmark No Child Left Behind Act into law."

For a town of about 65,000 then, it was a big deal!!  My kids were impressed. And just as an aside, Hamilton School District was a wonderful school district, they were terrific in educating two of my impaired kids with wonderful teachers and staff who took the time to care. Thank you!

Ok, back to watching my show.......  😊
