Memories on FB

I'm not a real fan of posting much on Facebook about my own status, what I'm doing or thinking, or telling the world what I had for dinner.  I'm finding some of the groups that have a page are more fun to read and post in.  They're usually pretty topical, or they're a certain group of friends with a history.

I really enjoy perusing one called "You know you're from Santa Clara when ..." because its like a small town newspaper for a specific community.  Back when I was growing up, Santa Clara was a smaller town, before the big dot com computer boom.  There are so many memories of good times.  Things like the Shell station on the corner where Dad always bought gas.  There was usually a give-away of glasses, or steak knives.  (On my recent trip home, I noticed my mom STILL uses one of the steak knives!)

Its so nice to read about familiar places, from familiar names.  Small town newspapers used to keep that sort of thing going.  Someone posted about a familiar burger joint .. Red Barn.  I can remember going there on days when school was early dismissal.  We felt like big shots going in and ordering our meal -- without adult supervision!

I know many of you have those same kind of memories about places you've lived.  If you're lucky, there's a group for you to share with, others who share your same memories!
