People Watchin'

Found this unposted posting from back in May, when I left for vacation......

Today, I had occasion to sit (and be patient) in a crowded terminal.  And I'm a natural people watcher.  If you pay close enough attention, you can see some amazing and amusing things!

When I was growing up, we always ate dinner at the table as a family.  And the window in the dining room looks out onto a street where we could see about 20 houses on either side, and watch people come and go.  Even if we'd never spoke with one of those neighbors, we always had something to comment about.  If a guy in a pickup hauled in a load of wood, we'd comment and speculate if he was doing home repairs, or building a treehouse for the kids.  There were many "stories" you could make up based on what you observed, if you looked close enough,  That became a habit for me over the years... and I still find myself doing it in crowded places.

This evening, we ran the gamut of stories to come up with.  First one I noticed was a baby, cutest blonde girl with the biggest brown eyes I've ever seen on a baby.  awwwwww.  Next up, a cowboy well over six feet, wearing said hat, boots and jeans.  His shirt was covered with the Wrangler logo -- headin' to the rodeo, Tex?  In Arizona, its not common to see someone from another culture wearing a turban on their head (too hot, I would think!).  This was an older gentleman with a large white beard.  His turban was royal purple (A fav color of mine!)  Then there's the gal dressed to the nines in a classic little black mini dress and six inch heels or higher. Maybe she was heading out on the town  ... but her date seemed to be a little undressed in jeans and flip flops!   And you have to admire some people's courage:  a young woman in a long green dress, her date was in a matching shirt!  but to watch her walk, you wondered if she ever looked in a mirror after dressing?  the fabric was very clingy, and was clinging in places it shouldn't cling to!  But then again, standing still, it probably didn't look so bad. hehehhe

None of these commentaries are meant in a derogatory manner, but merely to show how noticing details makes your imagination soar; you could invent entire story lines based on a few keen observations.

Just a few crazy little thoughts from me this evening.
It's midnight, and I should be getting to sleep.
