The gummi bear originated in Germany. Hans Riegel Sr, a candy maker from bonn, started the Haribo company in 1920. If I recall correctly, I found these back in the 1980s at a Costco one time. And have been hooked ever since. And yes, at Costco, they came in 5lb bags.
Amazing things, these little rubbery bears... there is no nutritional value, just sugar. But the flavors... yum! There are a few knock offs of these delicious little bears, but Haribo is the best.
Today, I was at Lowe's picking up some parts to do some repairs, and noticed them at the checkout. They seemed to know my name, and called out to . knowing, of course, that I would consume the entire package. And I did. There went an extra 45 minutes on the treadmill for sure! hahaha
So if a bag of these little critters is calling your name -- beware!
They're very hard to resist!
